Who is your Coach?
Having run for over 20 years, this journey has taken me to incredible places, forged lasting friendships, and evoked emotions I never thought I would experience.
Based in Guildford, Surrey UK I’ve now been a run coach for 5 years specialising in ultra distances. My running journey, like most, started with 5-10k runs and progressed to the marathons. Then a mate showed me a trail mag article talking about mountain ultras. I was intrigued (an under statement). Finishing mid pack in a local trail marathon a fellow runner said, ‘when’s your next race? I’m doing a 40 miler in a few months time?’ That was it. I signed up to a 60k and everything else is ultra history.
I’ve completed a plethora of ultra distances—100 milers, 50 milers, and 50k races across mountain, flat, and desert terrains. My best performance was finishing 4th at the Arc of Attrition, while my most memorable moment was a strong finish alongside elite runners at the Marathon des Sables. Every finish feels like a win, though! My current dream race is Western States in Auburn USA. Each year I focus on completing a qualifying race to secure my spot in the ballot. This year, I tackled UTMB, the full loop around the Mont Blanc Massif. I attribute my running success to a structured training plan, consistent commitment and true grit.
After being coached for a number of years by the team at Destination Unknown, I knew coaching was for me. I wanted to give other runners the same opportunities I have had. It was a privilege to be offered the position as UK Run Coach for Destination Unknown. A position I still hold today. Not only has this furthered by education, but it has given me the support and confidence to become the Run Coach I am today.
I’m passionate about deepening my knowledge in physiology, training techniques, nutrition, and race strategy. With certifications like Leader in Running Fitness (LIRF) and UESCA Ultra Running, along with my current pursuit of a Level 4 Strength & Conditioning program qualification, I am excited and confident to support you in your training journey, helping you achieve your fitness goals and go beyond your limits.
